25th Annual World Series of Birding Farmland and Open Space and Recreation Plans
Save New Jersey's Parks! Governor Corzine’s proposed
budget includes a devastating 15% cut to the Department of
Environmental Protection’s budget. On April 1st the DEP
announced that as a result of the proposed cuts, nine state
parks would be closing and three others would close sections or
reduce hours. Conservancy’s World Series of Birding Team Will Try to Set New Record Members of the “Highlands Hawks” - the Conservancy’s birding team, led by Captain Dennis Miranda - will participate in the 25th Annual World Series of Birding on Saturday, May 10th. Armed with binoculars and spotting scopes, the team will be combing the state with one objective in mind: identifying as many species of birds as possible in a 24-hour period. This celebrated, annual event, sponsored by the New Jersey Audubon Society, focuses world attention on New Jersey’s wealth of natural resources and the strategic importance of New Jersey to migrating birds, and helps organizations like the Conservancy raise funds to protect natural habitat. You can help sponsor our team -- with a pledge of $1 or $2 or even 25 cents a bird. The more birds our team identifies, the more dollars they raise toward our land preservation goals. Last year our team spotted and identified a record 218 birds and came in fifth place overall! They hope to top that record this year. For more information, or to make

Farmland and Open Space and Recreation Plans Morris Land Conservancy has completed 52 Open Space and Recreation Plans, Farmland Preservation Plans and Trail Plans in 37 municipalities in 11 counties. Below are the Open Space and Recreation Plans for Townships of Teaneck and Andover and the Farmland Preservation Plan for Frelinghuysen Township.
